Why would you buy protein bars, if you knew it had almost the same calories, fat and sugar as many of the popular candy bars? If your goal is to get healthier, slimmer, or replace a meal after a 30 to 60 minute workout, a candy bar or anything like it is probably on your "not" list. Right?


Here is a great recipe without all the junk in it but still delivers plenty of protein and amazing flavor.

 

Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups quick oats
1 1/2 cups powdered non-fat milk
4 scoops sugar free chocolate or vanilla protein powder
1 cup Steviva Brand Stevia Blend, Fructevia or 1/8 teaspoon of Steviva Brand Stevia Powder
2 egg whites, beaten
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup unsweetened natural applesauce

Directions

 

Preheat oven to 325 and spray a baking sheet or 9x12 baking dish with non-stick spray. The 9x12 baking dish will yield thicker bars.


Mix oats, powdered milk, and protein powder in bowl and blend well.


In separate bowl, combine egg whites, water, applesauce, and the Steviva Brand Stevia Blend,or Fructevia 1/8 teaspoon of Steviva Brand Stevia Powder and blend well.
Stir liquid mixture into dry ingredients until blended. The consistency will be thick and similar to cookie dough.
Spread batter onto pan and bake at 375 until edges are crisp and browned.


Cut into 10 bars and store in airtight container or freeze.


For some interesting crunch value add sesame, pumpkin, poppy, caraway, sunflower seeds, as well as other organic food items. Mix it up to make a terrific batch of great tasting gourmet protein bars.
